Shooting At The Stars

Spinning in circles round and round,
Beyond the light of any star,
Beyond the pasts broken bounds,

till lost in sorrow, lonely soul,
far away from dreams and hope,
You hid away from aching woes.

Faded maps of teenage dreams,
of beauty, smarts and chivalry,
guiding you till nothing’s left,
Wove space into all consuming cleft.

You took the helm and set the sails,
Withered tortured, windless sea,
Paved the way for wicked deals.

Devil’s smile across their empty face,
Eyes so hollow, abyssal caves,
Dead the whisper from pale lips,

Gashes, slashes just a rip,
Pooling into veiled beyond,
Nebula, scars one more broken bond.

Jumped ship into cosmic seas,
Nova set ablaze the sinking fleet,

Set for stars with no avail,
Battered by the endless hail.

Ad infinitum you hear your screams,
Dart and spin and point your guns,
All while stardust timidly runs,

Till

Nothing’s left but sorrow eyes,
Reveries lost in the great divide.
In the depth of pale green eyes.

Tell me which rivers flood the land,
Which streams no dam can bind,
Wreaking havoc in your mind.
