Forget-Me-Nots

So close and yet so far,
A cry beyond the wake of any star,
Wave drowning the endless dark,
Everything consumed by brightest spark,

Lips stained by nicotine,
Cigarette and you, torn between,
Hands entwined, reaching through the night,
Not even the sun can shine this bright,

From vivid petal to dark root,
Can’t help but find it cute,
Conquered earth, now reaching for the sky,
Mind conquered and now occupied,

A bed, soft, woven of green and blue,
Encased by ineffable view,
Slowly setting, petals blown,
A ring around the flowery throne,

Tears once caged now roam free,
Not agony but liberating ecstasy,
Iris’ lit by irresistible shine,
Pupils mirror faint outline,

Fingers catch the heavy drops,
For a moment inexorable time stops,
“Please forget me not”,
You’re my heart’s every thought,

Eyes don’t dare to part,
From most stunning piece of art,
Crescendo reached inside this chest,
Feelings no longer anxiously repressed,

Your breath becoming mine,
Twinkling in the pale moonshine,
Our hearts as brilliant as the stars,
So this is what it means to feel divine.
