Listen-

Why can’t you hear the words pouring from my disheartened lips?
Why can’t you understand the words I am shouting into the dark?

Just listen-

I don’t need you tell me of your wonderful world-
I want to show you mine.

Please-

Revel in the forest in my mind-
Let me tell you of the enchanting winds,
The bewitching calls of birds in my jungle.

Why can’t you hear me?-

Is there too much noise in your concrete jungle -
or Is there no beauty left to bask in?

Am I speaking in tongues, writing in hieroglyphs?
Do your concrete walls, repel my every word?

My world looking like a incomprehensible fairy tale,
next to your city of metal and glass.

Ride on the glorious rays of the rising sun,
Take my hand and I’ll guide you,
Through my wonderland.

All you want to see, neon lights,
black roads and graffiti riddled walls.
My language lost in the veil between.

The power lines carrying your signals,
unable to reach into my distorted forest.

The roars of my thoughts unable to penetrate your mind,
Hurricanes of wondrous ideas beaten back by sirens howling.

All coming out of your mouth, unintelligible barks-
And-
Everything I am able to muster,

A simple-
Meow
